It was rainy this morning, but by the afternoon it was nice and sunny, so I decided to drop by Cactus and Tropicals after work. I could feel the temp starting to drop as I was there, and serious clouds were moving in. I picked up a Gooseberry-leaved Globemallow, some Chicks and Hens (Emerald something… need to check), and a Weeping Siberian Peashrub that was on sale. I’d been wanting one of these for a couple of years now and was happy to find this one. It needs a bit of pruning, as there are a couple of crossed branches, but the plant looks pretty healthy. Got everything planted, and was finishing with the Peashrub as the rainstorm hit. I got drenched, but the plants should be very happy with the nice watering.

That sounds wonderful. It would be great to see some pictures of how that area is coming along. I love weeping varieties of shrubs and trees. I have been wanting a globemallow for years. One day I hope to convert part of my grass covered front yard into some xeric beds… first I have to finish the backyard!

Yup, I’m gonna try to get some nice pictures of where I’m at and some close-ups of the plants this weekend. John had really been wanting a weeping tree or shrub of some kind, and I love how delicate the peashrub looks. I need to come over and see your back yard… the pictures of it look wonderful!
