Paul Barden’s ‘Treasure Trail’ bloomed today! This is my first moss-type rose, and I had no idea what to expect from it. The amazing sticky fuzz (mossing) on the buds has the unmistakable strong scent of black pepper. Truly a fascinating rose.

Rosa
Blooming
It’s a sturdy plant despite it being a band planted this spring. Mossing smells of pepper! |

Interesting & lovely! I have an antique Green China Rose that smells peppery. Supposedly the petals are really sepals that fade from green to pink. I’ll have to learn more about moss-type roses.
