Finally went out and pulled the plants that had died in the cold snap we had a couple of weeks ago. This includes the pineapple, peppers, and green bean seedlings. It also appears that the carrot seeds I planted a while ago did not wash over into another square as I had thought, but were actually planted there by mistake. Ooops. So now I have carrots and lettuce growing in the same squares, and two more squares empty. :) We’ll see what happens.

I’ve heard that carrots and lettuce make good companion plants, as long as you don’t let the lettuce get too big and shade out the carrots. The lettuce is shallow rooted and fast, and the carrots are deep rooted and slow. The idea is that the lettuce will be removed before the carrots need the space. I have no idea if that works.

That’s kinda along the lines of what I was thinking. They both seem to still be doing well, so I will just make sure I harvest that lettuce first and let the other squares mature more. :)
