8.36pm Watered and fertilized all the indoor plants except the Moth Orchid. The Christmas Cacti are covered with buds. The Calamondin Orange has 14 oranges large enough to have some colour and nearly as many still tiny and green, as well as being covered in flowers which smell delicious. Streptacarpus, which needs a bigger pot, and stretacarpella both have flowers and Hibiscus #1 has buds. The replanted Moth Orchid's leaf is growing and there is a nub of a new root; the moss has remained quite damp and has a little mould growing on it. I moved the orchid down from a hanging pot to the table under the gro-lights. The Camellia is covered with blooms and has more buds still to open. The Agapanthus will go down stairs for a dormant period.

This afternoon the sun was quite warm, but as soon as the sun set the river sent up a mist which flooded the downtown and drifted along the mountains. It happened very quickly.

I took the bucket of wood ash from last winter, as the family wasn't using it, and scattered it over the garden - shade and porch got the most generous helpings by default, the bucket wasn't as large as I thought.

Photos: part of the Calamondin orange; 3 seedlings grown from Calamondin orange pips - I think that this is their second winter, they have grown over the summer from just a couple of leaves; the Bay tree; walking home this afternoon, Mt McKenzie directly ahead, and Mt Begbie on the other side of the river. Minutes after I took these photos both mountains were invisible behind fog rising from the river.
