so, I gave up on these canna seeds and dumped the pot back into the bag of potting mix.
<br>
fast forward several months to when I left town for a couple of weeks in September: my friend didn't do such a hot job watering everything and my wasabi was looking pretty much dead when I got back. instead of tossing it out, I put it in a bigger pot and it recovered pretty quickly. it seems that at least one canna seed was in the potting mix I added to the new wasabi pot, because a small canna showed up a week or so later.
<br>
I just pulled that canna out and put it in its own #1 pot inside as it really won't be happy in the same conditions the wasabi would.
