Today I harvested a small cabbage (the first), a chiogga beet, a handful of small potatoes pulled from under the plants without pulling them up, and a big handful of beans. Most of the beans are the bush bean blend, but a couple of dragon's tongue beans were the same size and I couldn't resist them. I am planning to wait for most of those to shelling-bean size, though. Other potatoes and beans weren't ready yet - they are a few weeks behind. I was planning to give some of this away to the "tithe" box the garden has set up, but apparently it had already been collected. It wasn't where it was supposed to be when I went looking for it. So I took it all home with me. I'm planning to harvest my biggest cabbage tomorrow for a big coleslaw for a potluck.
