I started checking the remaining containers one by one today to see the final status – either there is a plant to plant or there is nothing to plant. This journal entry will list all the nothings, and then I will archive them. Some of these containers may have had something growing in them at some point. Either it has died off, or I have decided it is a stray or a weed and not the plant intended. Some had questionable plants growing in them, and I checked each one of these against photos on the internet to either determine yea or nay.
These no-good containers are now emptied and put in the recycle bin. I was going to save them for another year’s use, but it’s probably easier to use new ones. I will save the marker tags though.
This is 37 of the total 132 containers that failed.
UPDATE
July 14 – Added 11 Welsh Poppy to the no-show list and moved 111 Black Krim Tomato back to the land of the living.
UPDATE
July 25 – four more no-shows added – that brings total of non-sprouting containers to 41
