Snowbird snowpeas were done, I had left the last few dozen pods go to seed. These were just a Burpee's hybrid, but I may plant a half dozen next year and see what I get. Pulled out all the plants, took down the chicken wire and put in another round of Blue Lake Bush, some parsnips and some black beans. Still on the fence about growing beans for drying, as they are so cheap anyway. Will need to put netting down, or fence it to keep the evil furfaces from eating the sprouts once they emerge.

Finally have a couple of baby girls on the pumpkins (2nd photo), maybe a week from flower, and plenty of males (third photo), so I'll have at least two pumpkins. Still no silk on the Bon Appetit corn, but large, beautiful tassels. The Country Gentleman looks like it's back to health, both the ones in the ground and the potted ones. I'll put the potted ones back out next week, but I'm not sure there's really time anymore to get a crop out of them. That part of the wagon wheel is the first to succumb to short autumn days, as it's close to the garage and will be in shadow from early September.

Four of the brussels sprouts appear to be cabbages (main photo). I really don't think brussels sprouts are supposed to form low, dense heads. This was emphatically NOT one of my seed mislabelings, as I planted these from a garden center (not a big box) flat. Good job, guys.

Finally, a nice head on one of the broccolis, but no new heads anywhere. I'm hoping to hold out until Sunday before I harvest it, although it looks like it really really would like to bolt.
