These are sad times in Gnomeville. The rain has come and won’t stop. There are weeds everywhere, even though it had been pretty clear of weeds just a few weeks ago. The grass that is still in some places around the front of the bed has grown to dizzying heights, hindering any view to or from the driveway. Plants are stretching their stems and stalks to try to reach some light, only to beaten down by the rain. There hasn’t been any opportunity to put down a new layer of mulch. Even the Gnomes haven’t come out of their winter hibernation yet (storage on the sun porch).
But the flowers… thank goddesses for the flowers. They refuse to stay dormant and bravely open those buds despite the dreary skies. Bright spots of color and hope in the grey.
