End of June Updates

Weather is weird here, and the plants are very unsure what to do with it. Early in June it was in the 50’s and rainy. Established plants flourished in the wet, but seedlings and n00bs shivered in the cold, or didn’t come up at all.

Then overnight we soared to the mid 90s with no rain the entire mid-month. That which formerly flourished became confused and shriveled in the heat, while those tiny late planted brassicas bolted in the mini brief heat wave, only to wonder what the hell they were thinking when overnight again the weather returned to the 50s and 60s and the clouds came.

Children were wearing their winter coats in my neighborhood today. Some say it might be the coldest July 1 ever. Thanks, global climate change.

Only one of all of the pumpkin seeds I planted ever germinated. I’ll have to take a class in pumpking growing, I guess. Still, that one plant is growing slow, but still growing.

In spite of the crazy weather, there is still life out there. Plants want to live! They want to make babies! That’s right my darlings, make those little babies. Reproduce, go forth and multiply! And then when the babies are ripe and plump and perfect, I will eat them.
