I got a few small items checked off the list this evening after dinner:

Potted up the tomatillos and currant tomatoes as they, especially the tomatillo verde, were busting their little Dixie cup pots at the seams. The tomatillos are in recycled 4" square pots and the currant tomatoes are in recycled 4" circular pots. I have no idea where these plants are going to go. I didn't realize tomatillos got quite so large.

Potted up, finally, the Moroccon mint bought the weekend before last, into a 6" terracotta pot. Poor little mint.

Put the French tarragon I got at the same time as the mint into the lettuce/parsley planter because I didn't really know where else to put it but I knew it would probably do better going directly into a big planter. Watered all the potted up babies in with a little seaweed extract.

Looking at the rest of the seedling pots, some of the basils could really use some potting up as well - hopefully by this weekend. The French chervil seedlings totally look like parsley. The Mexican sour gherkins are starting to move along as well. I might have to steal "Katxena's name":http://myfolia.com/plantings/74660-mouse-melon-melothria-scabra for them because it is so much cuter than Mexican sour gherkins.

My lemon balm, the one I have had so much trouble getting to even sprout, had been doing so poorly and looking so sad in its full sun (until one-ish anyway) position that I moved it down into the corner behind the fuschia planter. It has been there maybe a week and wow, does it like the shady spot so much better! It has put out tons of new growth. I'm sure the new fertilization regime helped, but I really don't think I would have gotten this much progress had I left it where it was.

I also bought a bacopa 'Scopia Golden Leaves' over the weekend at Orchard. I wanted something with bright leaves to lighten up that same darn corner. This particular plant is low growing and has light, lime-green leaves and light purple flowers. I actually thought the flowers were more white, but no, it turns out they are purple. The flowers don't go all that well with the other flowers in that planter, so we'll see.

While scrounging Orchard for trailing plants I became obsessed with lamium (dead nettle). The leaves are just gorgeous. Stay tuned for some likely lamium purchases in the near future. They also had some really cool black grass (really, the blades were pretty much black!) but they were $12 a pot. I was _so_ tempted. Who knows what will happen the next time I'm there. (The only problem is I don't know exactly where I could put it. But really, it is cool stuff.)

Photos: much happier lemon balm, bacopa leaves, bacopa flowers, badly composed photo of bacopa in the planter (but not actually planted yet)
