Desperate times call for desperate measures.

It is frustrating having such a small garden. No matter what I plant, I could fill the space ten times over with different things, and what I have is hopelessly overcrowded. I need more room.

The seedlings in the Nosh pit are progressing nicely, and I'm harvesting radishes whenever I think they might be big enough. My sprouter garden is producing sprouts at a great rate too. However I'm hankering for more greens, and a gal can never have enough onions...

I succumbed to the pressure for more lebensraum whilst looking at hanging baskets at my local garden centre, hay racks of all shapes and sizes lay stacked up next to the baskets.

I nipped home and did some measuring.

The first big problem was having to deal with an annoying tumble dryer outlet that is positioned in such a way that I could not put one big basket across the wall. Two staggered baskets will have to do, but it is inelegant and asymmetrical.

Racks bought, peat free organic strawberry compost lugged, and the drilling begins. This is an ideal activity to practice and put in to effect the finer points in the art of swearing. I have _the_ hardest bricks in the world in my walls, _and_ the battery on my drill is in the midst of it's death throes. The upshot is that I only get one hole drilled before I have to charge the d*** thing for an hour again.

It is testament to my willpower that I got the racks up, filled and planted in one day.

Planter A is the big one under the window, B the smaller one next to it. That will have to do until I can think of a better labelling system.
