A lovely day for a wander round the back garden. The ginger lily I left in the border hasn't died back at all though it didn't flower this year, probably because I moved it in the spring.Maybe next year?[the eternal optimism of the gardener!]The other one I dug out of the front border to make way for two carpentarias and slung down the bottom of the garden in the defunct plant graveyard[from where eventually plants are sent to the compost] is miraculously still alive and healthily green. It may escape the fate I had in store for it.Various other things that were moved last spring have flourished and seem to like their new home. The tree fern that nearly died last year from lack of moisture I think ,is happy in a damp shady spot sheltered under the kitchen window. And the variegated fatshedera I originally put up against the back fence is doing much better in a pot against the trellis on the patio. The brother in law's geranium maderense seedlings are poking their leaves out of the plastic greenhouse,I'll have to watch they don't get frosted and zip it up if night time temps go much lower.Sweetpea seedlings in the cold frame are doing fairly well but getting rather spindly,I'll probably have to pinchthem out soon.Still on the whole I am quite pleased with most things, and really excited about seed sowing for next year! P.S.Picasa is doing something strange with my photos so I'll have to try and add them later.
