3 Thumbs Up!
The Confused Garden
Confused gardens! I have often pondered upon which of the four seasons is my favourite. Spring is an exciting time with the expectations and surprises of new growth but this month I have been pleasantly surprised by a few of my plants flowering a few months early, a Aubrietia has produced a number of flowers followed by Clematis ‘Henry’ providing a single white bloom and as I was taking a closer look I was dive bombed by a Dragon Fly that must be wondering just exactly what is going on. Sadly I haven’t really had the warmth of summer on my back this November but the colours from many of the trees have been fantastic. Vivid deep reds glorious copper hues and fantastic bright yellows
Whilst gazing out of my window enjoying a cup of coffee I was fascinated with the number of Blackbirds bathing in my pond amongst the water lilies, that are STILL in flower, and I then realised that there were a number of young tailless birds watching with astonishment as their parents cavorted in the water. These young must have fledged only within the last week.
Then the following morning I looked out on crisp and even frost, there was going to be no bathing today, but it was a lovely clear morning unless that is you are a Dahlia.
I know I should have lifted them probably a couple of weeks ago but I wanted to keep them going for as long as possible and now they are brown and mushy. Huh no surprises there then.
My Hydrangea is still in flower and producing some strange colours, I still have a few Rose blooms and Campanula’s are cascading in bright blue and by the looks of things spring blooms may be just round the corner.

I still have quite a few roses as well,I was told I should cut them back a bit to give the plants a rest, but then you read of a rose variety that blooms right up to christmas in a mild year.So I’ve only cut back the lankiest and left the rest,it seems such a shame not to.
