As you can see from the picture, that was all I got. 2 kinda large potatoes and 7 tiny ones. :( I'm thinking the soil I used had the wrong fertilizer combination and made it put all it's energy into the leaves instead of the roots. That or I buried them too quickly or packed the soil too tightly. The two big ones were in the bottom tire and all the little ones were in the top tire and nothing in the two tires in between. I just about broke even and produced the same amount of potatoes as I started with. What a disappointment. I was so excited when I found all the little ones at the top. :(

They were still growing and sprouting new stalks and leaves this late in the season. They just wouldn't stop growing. The funny thing is about a week or so ago, I gathered all the stems that were running down the sides into a pile on top and they started producing a bunch of little potato bulges inside the pile of leaves. I buried them in the corner of my garden. Maybe they'll sprout next year.

I'll definitely try it again next year. I'll probably do two stacks. One stack of tires I'll just fill with shredded leaves and the other stack I'll fill with fresh compost from my new compost pile instead of the vegetable soil I bought for it this year.
