It was coming to the end of the tomato growing season and we wanted to do something special with the heirloom tomatoes that Nic had grown so I called up my dad back home in Australia to give me Grandad's Tomato Relish. I remember living off the stuff when growing up and wanted to try and make it for myself.

The "recipe was pretty simple":http://www.abc.net.au/tasmania/stories/s1328033.htm - a lot of tomatoes and a lot of onions cooked in a lot of vinegar with a lot of sugar.

True to Grandad's form I also made a hotter variety (with more mustard and curry) for when I'm feeling adventurous. The relish taste's great! We've just about polished off one jar and I'm not sure I'll have any left for when my sister comes over to visit soon :)
