  <description>Today is one of storms that didn't happen.  Big dark clouds built up and promised rain, much needed rain, and what fell- not enough to make a snail damp.
Anyway still planted out tomatoes [Grosse lisse]and some &quot;mini&quot; cauliflower. Both in the back east garden.
Soil here is all sand and only slowly can I get organic stuff incorporated but there is enough of that there now to support a voracious 'herd'of slaters.  For the first time I have known they seem to be eating young seedlings but, they hate clear sand so a little of that spread around each seedling keeps it safe.  Beats the heck out of poisons.
