0 2008-07-28T10:45:26-07:00 false Yesterday we pulled a bunch of morning glory out of the north-back corner, and afterwards I took a look at the back & south gardens. The lilies seem to be basically done, flowers all gone. The volunteer nasturtiums have just started to bloom. The biggest of the volunteers sunflowers is about as high as my chin. The southwest box is looking altogether late summer, with the poppies fading out, their foliage browning in the strong sun. (We did get a brief intense rainstorm on Saturday.) The bit of rosemary that survived the transplant is doing well; I imagine in a couple of years it'll be the grand plant that the original was. I saw the first gladiola bloom; someday I'd like to get more in a different color. I love glads, but am not so fond of the yellow. The motherwort will need to get moved come fall, I think: it bloomed and then wilted right away. It looks half-dead now! The rose is struggling towards a 2nd blossom. The oregano looks much happier since being moved and getting more water. I'm starting to worry about the last of the hemlocks; I don't know if it's the soil or the sun, but they just don't like that spot.
