On Sunday I came home late from a kayaking event to find that my poor plant babies had been neglected all day, sitting in the hot sun in soil baked completely dry. Everybody was wilted and withering and I wasn't sure some of them would make it. But Basil worried me the most. He looked nearly dead. But after a few days of keeping an eye on him and plenty of water, he's really bounced back and keeps sprouting new green leaves! Some of the paler, older leaves that were present when I bought him have continued to yellow and fall off, so he's really starting to mature. Hooray for Basil Fawlty, upright citizen of the porch roof!
