The incidental harvest

Kids and gardening; a perfect match. I love teaching my son about gardening, but sometimes that leads to incidental harvests. Today, one of the three watermelons we had growing on a trellis ended up, as my son puts it, “in the dirt daddy”. But that’s OK. No harsh words. No chasing him out of the garden (he was pretty darn sad as it was).

Instead, we cracked it open, found it was somewhat ripened and chowed down (sorry I was too busy eating to get pictures of him eating!).
