I can’t believe it has been so long since recording any type of gardening!
Very busy summer (as usual) and extreme heat/drought for most of the summer, but it has cooled a bit and we have gotten some rain.

I concentrated on finishing the front porch garden today:
.

  • dug out the charles grimaldi brug as it was doing nothing. Not sure if I am going to keep it or get rid of all the brugs.
    .
  • planted a piece of ‘annabelle’ hydrangea beside the steps.
    .
  • transplanted the ‘cherry cheeks’ daylily from the shed garden.
    .
  • transplanted the ‘cool it’ daylily from the back corner garden. planted it between the two ‘cherry cheeks’ daylilies.
    .
  • planted the WS Texas hibiscus between the hydrangea and the ‘gateway’ joe pye weed.
    .
  • dug the veronica ‘Evaline’ (the original plant from blueiris/Heather) from the back corner garden and broke it up and planted seven pieces in the front porch garden behind the sedum.
    .
  • dug four pieces of veronica ‘royal candles’ from the original plant, and planted them also.
    .
  • planted the echinacea ‘sultry summer’ seedling (that I got from WMC1/Bill/Navygirl). It is in front of the hydrangea.
    .
  • planted the last three seedlings that I had WS, of gaillardia ‘Arizona sun’.

Nice work! I like reading about the propagation potential of ‘royal candles’.

I absolutely love both the veronicas…royal candles and evaline both propogate so easily. This summer I have just taken so many pieces off them and they are now spread out all over the gardens and doing great.

BTW did you ever see my answer to your post regarding the hosta you were looking for the ID for?

    rosemarieGardener…it was your journal titled “rosemarieGardener’s Hosta#75L big, yellow/green w/green marg. (Kidney south) x 1”

your description is exactly like my hosta. You can go to my DBR garden and there is a pic of what mine looks like in the spring before the leaves turn solid green.
