I was away all weekend doing a craft show in Bar Harbor so nothing done in the garden during that time. My show started out tenuous, sales-wise but I hit it out in the ninth inning so I can call it OK. Sharing each day, a cabin, food, drinks and chat with two other women is always is enjoyable. A very famous person, known to frequent fine craft shows, bought 4 small pieces of my jewelry. I won’t drop the name, instead….her initials: MS. If you guess, I’ll let you know if you are correct.
Teeny, weeny pole beans that I saw in the garden on Thursday, made for substantial pickings today. Also, a zucchini, turnip (prematurely picked, I think but, I couldn’t resist), and broccoli shoots of a nice size.
1. The ‘mystery’ dahlia I bought from the students project at Mt. View HIgh School turned out to be a variety that produced a relatively big flower of a beautiful peachy-orange rust. I’m very pleased I took a chance buying the unidentified tuber.
2. One of the four echinacea I have planted in Center Perennial Rectangle Garden turns out to be yellow flowered!….a ‘paradoxa’. I don’t know where it came from but there it grows. It’s not the most thrilling flower but will contribute nicely to my cut flower bouquets.
3. Pole beans ‘fortex’
4. Broccoli side shoots.
5. Zucchini ‘romanesca’.

Everything looks so beautiful! I’m glad you had some success on your sales and I’m racking my brain on MS. Unfortunately I don’t know many famous people in Maine.

She’s not a ‘Maine’ person except in the summer and her being at a fine craft show is a significant hint.
Thanks for all your positive feedback.
