Despite the awful weather so far in July all my fuchsia’a seem to be doing very well! All of them are budding and some are further on than others, with my first snowcap plant producing some lovely blooms :)
The 3 Lady booth plants have gone mad and grown so much in the last few weeks I’ve have to build cages out of metal loops to provide support.
Can’t wait to see the rest come out in flowers over the coming weeks :)

A couple of years ago I had 5 plants of Fuchsia ‘Snowcap’ but they all died during the terrible frosts we had in the 2009-10 winter. Even though these are supposed to be hardy Fuchsias they didn’t survive the winter. I suppose it was because they were in plastic pots & the roots were frozen. I had about 25 plants in pots in the GH on the allotment. I suspect that because the allotments field is in frost hollow &, naturally, the GH is unheated, is the reason why even hardy Fuchsias couldn’t make it through the winter.
My plant of ‘Lady Boothby’, sent to me by Tralamander, has picked up quite a bit & even has flower buds on it now. If we get a few weeks that are warmer than what we’ve had of late then it will rocket skywards I imagine. During the last 2 weeks it’s put on about a foot of new growth!
