Nothing special, really….except that this is my first calendula volunteer. I don’t know if it’s because I don’t recognize baby calendulas when I’m weeding in the Spring or if the weather here in Maine is just not conducive. Come to think of it, not many of my gardening friends talk about volunteer calendula.
Anyway….this one came up near the garlic bed and inspires me to experiment. But then again….it was a very weird Spring.

I always rely on volunteer calendula. My volunteer pulled up a lot of them in the garden this past spring but I still have some who’ve survived. Thank goodness. I don’t know what I’d do without it. I make salves every year.

Nice that you make salve. I sometimes infuse oil and nothing brightens up cold Winter better than a dried calendula flower floating in one’s morning tea.

Perfect. I never thought to save the dried flowers for tea. What a fabulous idea!
