A miscellaneous journal, and a writeup of an uneventful but very enjoyable weekend. I spent it with Tom and we lazed about, went to the shops, watched the football (of which I shall not speak) and I did what gardening (and drawing) needed to be done.
Work has been pleasant this past week, I’ve been let loose on the big hawthorn hedges, cutting those down to shape and size. We’ve planted up the African garden with annuals and small perennials (eg Carpobrotus – yay!), and I deadheaded a rose bed… among many other things.
I’m looking forward to whatever this week brings. :)
1: Big (and delicious-looking) mushrooms at the museum gardens.
2: Gasteria brachyphylla
3: Colocasia esculenta – OMG Taro! Wow! I’m so excited. I bought a tuber from a market stall several months ago, planted it and the forgot all about it, placing other bulbs on top. It’s created a huge root mass, and come up with this stunning purple and blue foliage.
4: Lagurus ovatus – bunny tail grass. So cute.
5: Leuchtenbergia principis
Crassula perfoliata var. heterotricha
