He was always a loving, sensitive soul who gave and received affection easily. He would harm a fly (he frequently hunted and ate the flies on the windows) but would never harm a mammal. As a kitten he suffered being carried around by my kids with never a bite or scratch. We once found him watching a mouse with a pleasant amused expression but it apparently had not occurred to him to chase it or bother it. He loved to hang out in the sun, to sniff the catmint, and to lick his adopted brother’s ears. Unfortunately he had a heart murmur and suffered heart failure this afternoon. He had a mostly happy, carefree, well loved life until his last hour.

Clearly a kind and gentle soul. I hope his days in the afterlife are filled with Catnip and soft spot to lay under the morning sun. I am sorry for your loss.

Aw, sorry for your loss. I lost mine about 3 months ago due to heart failure as well. He was suspected of having kidney disease, the vet did a kidney flush and it caused him to go into congestive heart failure. It is very hard to loose a beloved furry baby. :(

Thank you everyone for your kind words. He used to like to watch me gardening and I haven’t had much desire to do any since his death. I keep thinking it must all have been a dream and I will find him in one of his favorite places and he will look at me and purr and roll on his back to entice me to pet him. But it is nice to think that he did have a great and well-lived life, over 10 years long, and a mercifully short, though painful, dying.
