I got a kick out of my garden today. The lychnis colonized the neighbor’s place without shame. The rocks in that area were no bar to their determination.
I loved that Rosemoor flower facing up, like a flag of triumph in the late day sunlight.
The neighbor’s white cat knows he looks good in the garden and refuses to give up his favorite spot even if it is full of plants now.
It seems early for fuchsias, but they are blooming. The Gartenmeister in the pot under the tree is not yet blooming, but having been in the garage for the winter probably explains that. The same variety purchased this year for under-the-tree is half flowers already.
I’ve been so grateful for the love-in-a-mist and campanula perscifolia. They have provided so much color out there against the green. And even if there are weed problems, the columbines and California poppies along the paths are doing their best to hide them by hanging out sideways. Of course this also makes walking the paths a bit challenging, but they are pretty and will not last all summer.
Sadly, this year again I will probably have no lily flowers next to Rosemoor due to the slugs, and I don’t know if Clematis Madame Ed will cope with having been nibbled so much again. Her area is so overgrown I was thinking of moving her, but at this point in time, moving her would probably kill her.
Roguchi looks good this year! No mildew yet, and apparently recovered from the move to its current location.

Nice blooms from a very pretty garden. I used to grow lychnis; your image brings back memories and tempts me to try it again.

Thanks, both of you!
rosemarie, I don’t feel as if I grow lychnis any more – I planted the first ones, but it was like setting loose two rabbits. .. lol. I love it, even though I complain about it seeding everywhere. :) It’s so easy – no extra watering and fertilizing to speak of, no fuss about mildew if the air’s too damp (I’m looking at you, Roguchi). :)
