Not often I write disappointed about the garden but the long-awaited poppy in Centre opened and it was not Patty’s Plum but a red one pretty much like the ones in Bay. I think that it will be coming out – I really want a purply one in that bed if I have a poppy in it at all.
Very windy yesterday, grey but no rain, rain again today – as always forecast sunny days retreat into non-existance.

Sorry to hear about that, I really love purple flowers also. On a side note, where was the beautiful landscape photo taken? If you tell me your backyard, then you are one of the luckiest persons in the world.

Is it possible that the first one might not be representative of the plant’s usual flower?
Disappointing, yes.

Cherokee_Motley: The photo of Mt. Begbie was taken from near the Visual Arts Centre studio on my walk home, the first glimpse of it in several days. I can’t see Mt Begbie from my garden I have to go to the end of the block to see it, but I can see two other snow covered peaks from my garden.
TalCath: I would expect the first flower to be true and the regression to happen later in the plant’s life. This is a very red red!
rosemarieGardener: Thanks

Such a shame about the poppy. Purple is my favourite colour too.
