….I didn’t journal but did a little work. Took down the string deer fince so DH could roto-till the vegetable garden paths. It all looks so purrryty, except that I put a length of black plastic down at the south path/margin and held it down with 2 × 4′s (from our dismantled West deck). The most ‘tidy’ plastic job I’ve ever done but it does nothing positive for garden aesthetics. Replacing the string on to the fence posts should be ‘easy-peasy’ except that I got a little creative for one length and couldn’t remember how to put it back exactly the same way using up the length of the string most efficiently.
Found two ‘perennial garden-worthy’ rocks in the garden from roto-tilling; that’s always a good day.
Moved two rocks from the pile north of the garden to my Fir/Hosta South Garden. They were each the size of a large, curled up cat but I was able to carry.
Got some germination on my sunflower re-sowings but now, I won’t know what varieties they are because I just didn’t keep track. I Plant-Skydd them.
Parsley definitely germinated to my satisfaction but I did have to re-sow to fill in here and there. Not bad.
Saw a cucumber beetle on one plant so had to re-rotenone. I was hoping that since the flea beetles slowed down, I wouldn’t have to use it.
Fortex beans at the North end of the garden are still being ‘nibbled’…..I think; Plant Skydd just a tad.
I forget what newly germinated parsnip should look like. I thought I had accidentally spilled a couple of parsley seeds in the row but then it came back to me. Parsley….parsnip….same family if I’m not mistaken. I know they both have long roots. Parsnip….germinated.
I’m still sitting on pins and needles about basil. I stupidly did not give basil a ‘resowing’ milestone so I don’t know the exact date; pinned it down somewhat; thank goodness folia allows retrospective milestones. I’m calling it the 16th for the resowing and if I don’t see germination by Friday afternoon, I’ll know my seeds are no longer ‘viable’. I picked up a pkt at wallmart the other day so I’ll use that for my third resowing….should it become necessary. I hate this!
Sounds like a really ‘complaining’ afternoon so, I apologize. I’m calling it ‘happy’.

rosemarieGardener, I am such a cat lover, and got a real smile about your comparison of the rocks to “the size of a large curled up cat”.

My journalling is very far behind. By the time I come in from working in all the heat, I am too tired to do much more than scan what everyone else has written, and give them a thumbs up. No work in the garden yesterday or today (other than watering the few things that are droopy at the end of the day)….the heat is just too much for me lately. :-)
