I had to go to Waterville to buy buttons to use as closures for certain of the necklaces and bracelets I make. That meant a different Walmart and Home Depot from the one in Bangor so I hit them up for new plants. I got two hostas at reasonable prices; ‘halcyon’ and an unknown variety because I guess if Walmart is going to sell us a hosta for #3.79…..they don’t have to bother to inform us of the variety name. grump, grump. If anyone here can help….please do.
1. Hosta ‘halcyon’
2. unknown variety hosta
3. leaf of unknown variety hosta
4. critter, spider breakfasting on wasp on a lilac leaf
5. critter, snake

I’ve no clue what the unnamed hosta is but I like the leaf edging. You seem to have a veritable zoo in your garden what with chipmunks, spiders….and snakes!

Yes, LouiseM …..some I don’t mind but I don’t like the rodents….and I put deer in that category. Come to think of it, I don’t like the rabbit or mystery critter that chomps down my briars and I know it isn’t the deer. Tooooo wild for me but what can one do in rural Maine?
