My basil is looking singularly unhappy, and I don’t have a clue why. \its well drained, its getting sun, and its watered from below. I love pesto. Really love pesto. This is a problem :(

Check the base of the stem, where it’s coming out of the ground. At my workplace we have grown thousands of basil plants in optimum, sterile conditions, yet still a lot of them have this weird brown disease/rot on the stem which leads to the plant looking like this. :)
