So I beetled down to the community garden and weeded like mad, cut back some shrubs on the berm, decimated the comfrey where it’s encroaching on the common path, and planted tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, nasturtiums, cilantro, dill, and some volunteer feverfew. Whew! I also sowed two rows of bush beans (SSSeeds Heritage Mix), and a row of bush peas – Sugar Snap, I think? The goutweed is a disgrace, but at least I pulled out all of the flower stalks. Next dry spell, I’m going to take my compost screen and a garden fork with me and filter the soil from the whole section of Bed 4 that’s been taken over by goutweed.
