In 2009 I purchased some garlic starts from Gourmet Garlic Gardens online. This harvest is from those starts.
Oct 2009 Planted 38 Susanville – in 2010 harvested 38; total weight 53.05 oz
Oct 2010 planted 70 Susanville – in 2011 harvested 58; total weight 79.20 oz
Oct 2011 planted 30 Susanville – and just harvested 29; total weight 47.05 oz
So…
This is the second generation of these grown in my soil from my harvests.
Average head weight went from 1.40 oz to 1.37 oz to 1.64 oz.
Germination rate went from 100% to 82% to 97%.
Here’s a summary of my total garlic harvest, year in… year out.

Interesting. Anecdotally, I have found that the head tends to be smaller when I have replanted a second generation. I have not really studied this, though. Interesting your stats went down and then back up.
