It never ceases to amaze me the number of deer who visit my garden in the heart of North Raleigh. When we first moved in it was … ’ aahhh, how cute’ now it is … ’why can’t we fire a gun in city limits?’

I have been trying different formulas, here is my simplest: (5) cloves of garlic, 2 Tbsp of Cayenne pureed in a blender with a Peanut Butter jars worth of water. Once pureed, I pour this back in the PB jar and add a tablespoon of dish soap to give it a little stickiness.

I don’t have a lot I want to protect and my sprayers would always clogged, so I just brush the mixture on the leaves of plants I really don’t want eaten.

How do you keep the deer from eating your plants? Has anyone ever tried the “hanging hand soap” nearby method?
