Living life on the edge (of growing seasons)!

18 May 2012
Cloudy 21°C / 70°F

Funny how now my idea of excitement is seeing if i can grow zucchinis over winter! I think i must face the reality that i have become a gardening tragic :-)

I’ve been experimenting with starting seeds inside with seed raising mix, and these zucchinis got off to a flying start. Whether or not they survive outside is a different matter. I made a minor effort at hardening off, and i’ll keep them under a cloche for a bit which might help. They will be growing over a trellis i made from with stuff from the demolition of the old bathroom, and it is leaning up against a north facing wall so they will get as much sun as possible. Also in their favour is that we rarely if ever get frosts, so we’ll see how we go. Fingers crossed!
