after looking at loads of photos, we’ve determined that these aren’t english bluebells but either the spanish or most likely, the hybrids, so they are going going going.

Shame isn’t it. I’m in the same predicament. I hate ditching healthy plants but I know these will just take over and I don’t find them as delicately pretty as our natives so they will have to be dug up.

Exactly right. in addition, we live across the road from downlands and woods and I don’t want the bluebells that have come up in our garden tainting any English bluebells in the woods. I don’t know how long the bluebells have been in the garden, because we have been here less than a year, but they are a little too plentiful already too.
