  • Very Happy

For the 3rd time in a row, my fantastic parsley shrub. Bought in in a tiny 3" pot from a supermarket last year by my mother, I took it when she was about to bin it (all the stalks had been cut off) and planted it in the ground. Over the next year it grew and was harvested regularly, and I have a feeling it may flower this year. Very flavoursome too.
In other news, I have a new camera, cheap from Argos but with a much better depth of field than my old camera, which stopped working probably due to my bad treatment of it. This new one will live in a case, always. It’s purple, 12MP and makes cuter noises than the last one.
Hence loads of photos in the garden today. I didn’t spend that long out there because I worked at the Horniman between 7:30 and 1pm, had loads of fun clearing everything up for the first wedding event of the year, tidying up the staff yard and toolshed, then mowing some of our new (must be getting on for 6 weeks though) turf – this being a horrible little slope surrounded by rope and pig irons, and with a tree in the middle. I did the best I could, but the edges needed… strimming. At last I was inducted on the strimmer and really enjoyed learning how to use a new power tool. A great treat for working most of an extra day.
And then I slept for two hours.
And then I went to Argos and bought a new keyboard (the camera was almost an impulse buy – they’re clever having them all on display).

So. What’s going on in the garden?
I’m going to have to pick four other photos…

1: Flat leaved parsley (Petroselinum crispum var. neapolitanum)
2: The beautiful Japanese painted fern (Athyrium niponicum var. pictum)
3: Bowiea intricata seedlings germinated in sphagnum moss, how exciting! I’ve never grown a caudiciform from seed before.
4: My Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum multiflorum) has broken dormancy and budded without me noticing, so nice to see this made it through our hot winter.
5: Euphorbia milii (crown-of-thorns) flowering for the second time and with very healthy-looking foliage.

I will probably sleep all day tomorrow. :)

It’s the Parsley that just keeps on giving! It looks like your new camera is doing the job very well. Love the Begonia and the Impatiens. You’ve certainly got a lot going on in the garden right now.
