Does anyone worry about HVX? I always check my plants for any stress, but never see anything that would alarm me.

You’re very lucky then! I always cringe when I see HVX at some of the big box stores. I’ve even told managers about the virus and they look at me like I’m crazy and just say, ‘oh well that’s what they sent us.’ Grrrrrrr. However, I’m the first one to look at their hostas when they appear to have a new shipment in, carefully scanning all prospects. One of the problems is that HVX may not show up in your hosta for years. Unless I’m buying from a reputable dealer, all big box stores go into a special nursery bed where they’re isolated (and I clean my tools religiously!) from my others until they mature and still show no signs of the virus. Say, this sounds like a good topic for the Hosta-holics group! Think I’ll gather my resources and start a topic over there!
