it has been so cool/cold and damp the last while that I hate to do much outside. I am being a bit of a wimpl. Snow is forecast for the next day or two and although I guess it won’t amount to much, it is still depressing after the beautiful March we had.
.
I am desperate to get the seedlings out to start hardening them off as I just can’t find another inch of space that can hold any in the house. Thankfully I winter sow and have some outside too. Friday I rigged up a place to put the seedlings for hardening off. I had a metal shelf downstairs and a roll of heavy plastic. The shelf has been wrapped in the plastic and it is now outside the back door on the patio, up against the house. Anxious now to test it out, but I think I will hold off for a few days. This upcoming week is supposed to be pretty cold, and then the temps are going up….I hope for good this time. :-)
.
Our annual London/Springbank swap (on GW) is coming up. (newcomers welcome) When the weather warms up a bit, and the garden starts going again, I will know better what I need to dig and divide. Right now we are just doing some trades on line of the things that we are sure of. I want to be more organized this year and have all the online trades potted up as they happen so that they have time to settle into their pots and don’t look sad when I take them. :-)
.
Just posting some pics of the many great plants that I have acquired over the past few years at the swap.

    Hiya!
Do you think that anyone at the Springbank swap would be interested in veggie plants? I don’t have many flowers to swap as I am still building the flower beds. I read the posts on GW last year enviously!
    Cheers

hey Nicky! are you thinking of coming?? that would be great if you are. :)
and absolutely I do think that there would be an interest. There are a few listed on this years thread already —eggplants and tomatoes and I will be offering some perppers soon (some of them just need to put on a growth spurt! ). All you can do is try and I hope you do! :) newcomers are always welcome.
There is even some seed swapping going on for those that want to.

actually, I am really not sure but I ‘think’ it might be Saturday June 2, but would want to confirm that before saying it for sure. gives you time to work on your hubby. :-)
BTW other things that are garden related have been offered in the past…..plant pots, gardening magazines/books, patio stones, decorative rocks, mini blinds for plant markers, etc.

It usually starts about 11 a.m. and we have a pot luck for those that wish to participate. Along with the swaps that are arranged online, there is also a ’gambler’s circle’ where we put our extras and everyone gets to pick.

It sounds great. It is nice to meet other gardeners! Even hubby – although not even slightly interested in gardening, loves that every gardening get-together involves food! I’ll get to work on him tonight!
