Sunny with constant cloud over the peaks, a nice change from yesterday. Some of the snow crocuses are slowly beginning to go over but the sun has made them all open – what a pleasure! The first of the species tulips are open, and the Puschkinia libanotica are opening.

Very nice blooms. It’s by far, my favorite time of year!

Crocuses are such cheery little plants to begin the year with! I grow them every year on the balcony railing as I like to plant them up in the clay pots I have in rings. Being on the railings lets me see them at eye level, very good for my back as I don’t have to bend down to the flower troughs on the balcony floor – although they do grow there as well! Sadly ours finished some weeks ago & I have to wait for next year now. :-((
I haven’t grown any of the species Tulips for some years now but I would like to get some later this year for next spring. Yours are lovely!

Never heard of a Puschkinia before, I’ll have to read more about it.
