Finally, there are some daffodils in bloom. Only a few but there were enough yesterday to get a picture for this month’s bloom day.
The weather is finally warming up and so yesterday, I brought the potted hybrid tea roses along with thirty or so oriental lilies out of the garage. More lilies will come out today.
The potted roses are already showing signs of life and needed a really good, deep watering. I still have to top dress them but they’re out for the summer.
Above 0C nightly lows for the next week mean that the flats of pansies, sweet peas & carnations are now spending their days and nights outside. Hopefully I’ll be able to get them into the ground by early May if not before. I also left out the pink Kordana rose overnight and it’s doing just fine. In fact, there’s a flower bud!
Heavy rain is forecast for next weekend but the most exposed area of the woodland garden is incredibly dry. This morning the sprinkler came out for an hour or so. That should hold the garden over for the next fews days with temperatures in the low twenties.
