Jas’s Garden is one of the things we’ll be needing to put back together every year since it’s a tomato garden.

In December, I finally got my first greenhouse =D! It’s a mess now, but here I will show you a pic of it before it got messy hehe. It’s tiny, but perfect for us right now.

Jas and I tried to pot up the tomato and chili plants in hopes that they’ll survive the winter and continue to give us fruits, but all of them died except for 2, the ancho chili plant and the cherry tomato plant. I’m sure they woulda died too if it weren’t for the greenhouse though.

In the fall last year, we asked the gardeners to blow all the leaves into the garden beds and they did so all winter for us. In early March, Jas tilled all the leaves into the soil so that we could plant in it a few weeks later. He collected the rest of the leaves from the other garden beds around the house and put them in a huge pile in the back where we compost. When we first moved into this house last year, this area was all hardpan clay dirt. We’ve been working hard to amend the soil here and so far so good. It already looks A LOT better than it did. =)

In late March, Jas and I planted the tomato and chili plants and the herby companion plants. Then he put cocoa mulch on it in the next few days. I love smelling that delicious chocolate smell when I walk out to see the garden… mmmm. =D

Just a few days later, we noticed Borage sprouts popping up all over the place! We are so excited to see that last year’s Borage plant has reseeded itself, but it looks like we’re gonna have to do some thinning because it’s EVERYWHERE. lol

Jas’s Garden is doing great still today. The tomato plants seem to have doubled in size and we continue to find more and MORE Borage sprouting up! You might even be able to see them in the pic. O.o

Your greenhouse looks good – I really like how the seams appear to be reinforced. Exciting about the borage self-seedlings emerging too – fingers crossed mine do the same. Great before and after photos too!
