After a very mild couple of weeks, it’s turned cooler and I’ve made sure my early spuds (Red Duke of York) are earthed up in case of a frost. Have planted out my main crop this week (Pink Fir Apple). I’ve thinned out my radishes and there are signs of my carrots starting to sprout. I’ve only got 3 Scotch Bonnet chilli plants doing well out of the 12 seeds originally planted. I’ve sown a couple more seeds but they have yet to sprout (and may not) – chilli seeds don’t seem very hardy. My tomato plants continue to well on the windowsill – especially the Moneymaker variety. The Gardener’s Delight seem a little more delicate with one having died and another looking a bit fragile. My Solent White garlic is doing really well and I should hopefully get some large bulbs judging by the size of the stems.
