Now that I have most of my potted plants entered into myfolia, I thought this would be the perfect time to do an update on the Container Garden this year. =)

My collection of succulents has pretty much more than doubled since last year. Most of them are still baby size, but a lot of them have been born from other plants that I’ve had already too. I am proud to say that the East side of the house has no more plastic pots! Yay! All my potted plants are potted in suitable clay and ceramic pots. I gotta say, it looks SO much nicer. Now I just have to get the North side the same way. O.o

I want to thank my fellow Folians for helping me name my mystery succulents. Thank you so much!

hugs

New succulents and cacti added to the Container Garden family are:

mammillaria pilcayensis cristata
Crassula ‘Moonglow’
Sempervivum tectorum ‘hens & chicks’
aloe ‘pink blush’
Copper Spoons
Euphorbia (still not sure what type of Euphorbia this one is)
Cushion Plant
Variegated Jade Plant
cremnosedum little gem
aloinopsis malherbei
lapidaria margaretae
pleiospilos nelii
Fenestraria Rhopalophylla
Crested Echeveria ‘Doris Taylor’
and more Peanut Cactus
and more echeveria nadulosa
and new Ponytail Palms

I was very disappointed to find the leaves turn yellow and slough off my ponytail palm after this past winter =(. The bulb base, itself, it still firm and healthy. I’m not sure if it will grow new leaves or not =\. Just in case, I bought myself a new ponytail palm =). Not just one, but 4 good sized ones in one pot AND I got another pot with 4 tinier ones in it. I still have hopes that my original ponytail palm will bounce back though. I’ve had it for 2 years and I don’t wanna lose it now. =\

I’ve noticed that a lot of nurseries this year have the Cushion Plant amongst their succulents for sale. This is the first one I’ve ever owned. I’m curious to see how it grows. =)

An update on the Lithops Teacup – Hurray! They are all still alive! The aloinopsis malherbei has been flowering a lot, but blooms are more yellow-ish now. The Lithops seem to really like it in the greenhouse. =)

Main Pic – The 3rd succulent dish garden that Jas and I made together. I gotta say it’s still my favorite out of the 3. We’ve had to replace a few plants that didn’t make it, but it still looks nice and it’s filling in very well. =)

Pic 2 – Potted plants on the East side of the house.

Pic 3 – Another angle of the potted plants on the East side of the house.

Pic 4 – My new Ponytail Palms. The plant in front is a Pregnant Onion and Jas planted some sedum at the top of my broken mushroom with a gnome laying under it. =P

Pic 5 – The Lithops Teacup with the aloinopsis malherbei’s beautiful yellow blooms.

Many cities have cacti and succulent clubs you can join. I learned a lot by belonging to one in the past. At one time I had about 200, and find them most fascinating!

You are right, flowerweaver, my city does have a Cactus and Succulent Society. I’ve checked it out online a few months ago. Jas and I are considering to join soon. =)
