I’m not having a good gardening day. It started yesterday evening when my husband (who never does anything wrong) told me that he had given the compost in the bin to our neighbor. He was quite pleased with his generosity. …until I told him that I needed that compost for my spring garden; that I have tomatoes started in the greenhouse …and that I wanted the compost back.
So, today in the freezing wind (blowing hard, with gusts up to 50 mph, and temperatures in the low 40sF) he hooked up his dump trailer to his truck and drove over to the neighbors. He has to reload the compost by hand since his tractor would just tear up their yard. I offered to help, but he said no. I’m baking some muffins as a peace offering.
In addition to that, I think I may have killed my tomato seeds. I started them in a big flat in the greenhouse on a warming mat. I forgot to check them/mist them yesterday and this morning the flat of soil was dry and cracked. Yipes! Argh! Stupid, stupid me! So I misted the hell out of them and I hope they still germinate.
