Yes, No, Yes, No -- oh what the heck

03 Feb 2012
Rainy 7°C / 45°F

Spring is springing, or winter is back, or what? Yesterday while inspecting the garden, saw all of the lilacs have big fat buds on them, and bulbs are sending green up about 2-3 inches. Many plants that should have completely disappeared are still showing a lot of green. And today we’re expecting rain, then 3-4" of snow. Everything appears to be off-kilter and confused. Temperatures will be in the mid-to-high 30’s F the next ten days according to the weatherman.

Yep, we’re at least a month ahead of schedule apparently like so many others.

It’s a very strange winter we are having! First an autumn/fall that was more a prolongation of summer than even an “Indian Summer”, then a very wet, cool December with January more or less following suit, then suddenly BAM!!! February comes along & with it an air mass directly from Siberia with temps falling up to (Down to?) -10ÂșC! in a matter of a few days! Now we have had several inches of snow over the weekend! The UK Met Office sees no improvement, in temps at least, during the coming week! Brrrrrrr!!!!!
