Hoop house plastic torn

Friday, 13 Jan 12 Snow 1°C / 34°F

Night before last we got some snow & wind which pretty much decimated the hoop house plastic. Stef mad a makeshift cover out of some plastic drop sheet we had kicking around…but we need to fortify the construction next time. The butter head freckles lettuce is still young and perky, but the first planting of red lettuce from mild mesclun mix has succumbed to the cold. Leeks look droopy, but usable and carrot tips wilted, but roots can still be pulled. Glad I got a managed to get a few inches of straw mulch down to protect it all!
