Ailsa Craig Onions still alive and well in the Greenhouse!

10 Jan 2012
Overcast 8°C / 46°F

Well, just checked the temp in the greenhouse, High of 13 today, when outside was a high of 8 degrees C. I checked my plantings, and nothing has died (yet). The onions seem to be stagnant, but that’s okay. I think I will be moving my other onion trays out there on the weekend, possibly friday, weather depending.

I got my mexican sour gherkins in the mail today, so I might be planting them soon. Very excited. I wonder how they will taste and look. I’m looking very forward to it!

Still hate going to work in the dark, coming home in the dark and not being able to see what’s going on in the greenhouse without a flashlight. Soon, I keep telling myself, soon.

This winter, although temperature-wise mild, seems to be dragging on and on and on!

My 2nd grow light should be coming soon, and then I might set up shop in the basement. We’ll see.

Hope you are all happily gardening away, even though early!

Take care,

M.

If you start onions now when do you plant them outside? What container do you use to start them in?
