So the temps are finally in the more normal 30’s (after an unusually mild fall), and now the real fun begins-getting ready to harvest from my winter garden. I just took a peak at my brussel sprouts, and they are finally forming heads. Yay! It took a super long time, because of the warm weather, and because I forgot to pinch them off. I also have cress, and carrots, green onions, and probably some kale still left over. I also just started forcing my Belgian endive. Can’t wait till it’s ready!

The tip of the brussels sprout plant needs to be pinched off to allow for the brussel sprouts to develop and grow to a decent size before a hard freeze. Pinching the top, forces the plant to put its energy into developing the sprouts, rather than in vertical growth. HTH.
