Added some more soil to the herb garden, and planted out a heap more plants, including the first home grown seedlings for Calendula and Sweet Basil. Sweet Basil is a little small still, but only 4 cells went out, from the 16 we have, so plenty spare if needed.
I decided the front row should be the Thymes, which should fall nicely over the edge, and will take the brunt of the afternoon sun, which they can hopefully handle. The Calendula’s are at the back, catching the morning sun, so I hope they’ll grow big and make a nice protective border there, and the moisture lovers i’ve tried to cluster in the middle so hopefully they’ll have the least evaporation.
This is the smallest and thirstiest plants we’ve put out so far, so will need to keep an eye on them, and keep the water up. Hopefully the Cyprus mulch will help. It certainly gives it an attractive appearance, but it’s a little expensive.
